Glow Bug Cloth Diaper Review & Giveaway

by julie on February 27, 2013

I always get so many questions about Glow Bug Cloth Diapers and all of their cute prints. You asked, so here it goes! Glow Bug Cloth Diapers is a company that was started by two moms who became friends in a prenatal yoga class. These moms not only shared a love of cloth diapers, but also wanted to provide a simple yet stylish and effective way to cloth diaper their babies. Hence Glow Bug Cloth Diapers was born. The “Glow Bug” is a nickname for one of their children, and  they always thought that “cloth diapers look like a cute little bug with that sweet round bum.” Glow Bug Cloth Diapers are manufactured in China in their own factory by their employees that are paid fair wages. The factory is tightly supervised by managers and teams of professionals. Now onto the juicy details of the diaper.

My Thoughts:

I am a sucker for cute prints! These prints have hooked me for a long time. They are so cute! In all honestly, I have been trying to win a Glow Bug Cloth Diaper for about a year now with no success. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. This diaper did well with my son during the day use, but during some naps he leaked through the diaper without an added doubler. I don’t think I would use this diaper for nighttime without added absorbency . Besides the leaks during some naps, I experienced no other leaks or blowouts. Below I have listed some features of this diaper that I would like to highlight.

SlimDry Fabric – The diaper is lined with SlimDry Fabric. This fabric feels like a smoother microsuede and is 100%  polyester. The fabric is lighter weight and more slim than your typical microfleece or microsuede, thus providing a less bulky look but still helping to keep your baby dry.

Double Guessets – Double gussets seem to be the new craze in cloth diapers. Double gussets act as a fence for poop, I know that isn’t the most pleasant description, but it describes what the gussets do. Having the double gussets is especially helpful with breastfeeding poops in infants.

Prints – Glow Bug Cloth Diapers has some really cute prints. I know this is like the 5th time I have said that in this review, but it is true.  You can check out the girl’s prints, boy’s prints or gender neural prints. I mean how cute is the wrench tool diaper or the purple argyle??

Unique Purchase Model – In order to make it easy and affordable for everyone to use cloth diapers, Glow Bug sells their diapers in packages of 12 with set patterns. While this may be a bummer for many of you looking to pick up only a few diapers, it is the way that prices can be so inexpensive and is a perfect stash starter.
